Random Access Memory (RAM)

A temporary storage space used by a computer to operate one or more software programs currently running. For example, the Operating System's "Clipboard" uses RAM to facilitate copying and pasting data between documents or applications. Anything stored in RAM is lost when the computer is turned off.
